Stress is a condition where an individual experiences significant pressure, both emotionally and mentally. Being a final-year student is one of the most challenging phases for students, as they are vulnerable to excessive stress due to the processes they undergo and the demands to complete their education on time. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of expressive writing therapy in reducing stress levels among third-year nursing students at IKes Payung Negeri Pekanbaru. The research method used is a quantitative study with a quasi- experimental design, specifically a one-group pretest and posttest design approach. The sample in this study consists of 18 respondents with cases of moderate, fairly severe, and severe stress. The measurement tool used is the PSS- 10 (Perceived Stress Scale 10) questionnaire. The results show that 72.2% of students experience fairly severe stress, 22.2% experience moderate stress, and 5.6% experience severe stress. The study concludes that expressive writing therapy is effective in reducing stress levels among third-year students with stress cases, with a Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It is hoped that this study will provide information and insights on managing stress among students through expressive writing therapy.
