Abstract

Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) remain a major challenge within the Indonesian healthcare system. One of the most effective methods to prevent HAIs is the proper practice of hand hygiene. However, compliance among nurses with hand hygiene protocols in various healthcare facilities remains low. This study aims to analyze the application of the on nurses' hand hygiene compliance in the hemodialysis unit of Bina Kasih Hospital. A quantitative experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The intervention included education and demonstration of the five moments and six steps of hand hygiene over three days. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in compliance scores from pretest to posttest among two implementing nurses. The application of the TPB model proved effective in increasing nurses’ awareness and compliance with hand hygiene practices. This study recommends integrating the TPB model into routine nursing training to enhance service quality and patient safety.
