Abstract
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive condition that can be prevented by increasing awareness of risk factors. However, adolescents' knowledge of CKD is still limited. Therefore, innovative educational methods such as Wordwall educational games are needed to improve students' understanding. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of educational games (wordwall) on adolescents' knowledge of risk factors for CKD at SMPN 34 Pekanbaru. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest- posttest design. The subjects of the study were 8th grade junior high school students aged 13-15 years totaling 72 students who were divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received education using the Wordwall game, while the control group did not receive treatment. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire on knowledge about diabetes mellitus with the results of the validity test of r count between 0.407 - 0.712 > 0.361 and the results of its reliability with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.860. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference in increasing knowledge in the intervention group (p-value <0.001), while no significant difference was found in the control group (p-value = 0.052). The Mann-Whitney test also showed that the intervention group had a higher average post-test score than the control group (p-value <0.05) indicating the effect of the wordwall educational game on adolescent knowledge (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Wordwall media has an effect on knowledge about risk factors for chronic kidney Disease in 8th grade adolescents at SMPN 34 Pekanbaru.
