Abstract
Hypertension is referred to as the "silent killer" because it often appears without symptoms so that many are not aware of it. One of the interventions to control hypertension is education. Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC) is a series of therapeutic activities carried out in empowering patients to independently manage their lifestyle and adapt to their disease. Planned behavior has three components, namely behavioral beliefs, subjective norms, and control beliefs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of providing Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC) education on planned behavior in patients with hypertension in the Simpang Tiga Pekanbaru Health Center Working Area. The type of research is quantitative with a quasy experimental design and pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group research design. Respondents totaled 19 people in the intervention group and 19 people in the control group. From the results of this study using the paired sample t-test test showed that in the intervention group behavioral beliefs obtained p value 0.001 (<0.05) and the control group p value 0.000 (<0.05) meaning Ho was rejected so that there was an effect of Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC) in the intervention group and control group. The independent sample t-test test shows that the p value before and after treatment in the intervention group and the behavioral belief control group is 0.000 (<0.05), meaning Ho is rejected, there is a difference in the average of the intervention group and the control group. The results of this study are expected to provide information and increase knowledge for people with hypertension and for further research is expected to discuss Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC) education that can increase subjective norms (Normative Beliefs) and control beliefs on planned behavior in people with hypertension.
