Abstract
Perineal wounds are among the common problems experienced by postpartum mothers following vaginal delivery. These wounds can cause pain, discomfort, and hinder mobility, thereby affecting the recovery process. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to accelerate perineal wound healing is the sitz bath technique, which involves soaking the perineal area in warm water regularly. The aim of this evidence-based study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the sitz bath technique in accelerating the healing process of perineal wounds during the postpartum period. This scientific paper applied continuity of midwifery care starting from the third stage of labor through the postpartum period, focusing on the implementation of Evidence-Based Practice Midwifery (EBM) through sitz bath administration to promote perineal wound healing. The care was conducted at Permata Hati Hospital Duri from April to June 2025. The indicators of success were measured using the perineal wound healing observation sheet (REEDA scale) before and after the intervention. Descriptive data analysis was used to describe the outcomes of the intervention. The results of continuity of care for Mrs. D (30 years old, G2P1A0H1) showed an optimal perineal wound healing process. Prior to the sitz bath application, Mrs. D experienced moderate perineal pain and signs of inflammation. After regular sitz bath intervention for 7 days, pain and edema significantly decreased, the wound healed faster, and the mother felt more comfortable during activities. Therefore, the sitz bath technique proved effective in accelerating perineal wound healing among postpartum mothers. Health professionals are advised to optimize this technique as part of comprehensive postpartum care.
