Abstract
Labor pain during the first stage of labor is a physiological discomfort that may increase anxiety and interfere with labor progress if not managed appropriately. One non-pharmacological intervention for reducing labor pain is the Rebozo technique. This case study aimed to provide continuous midwifery care (Continuity of Care) using the Rebozo technique to reduce first-stage labor pain in Mrs. S at Dince Independent Midwifery Practice, Pekanbaru City, in 2026. The method used was a case study with a continuous midwifery care approach based on Evidence-Based Practice, covering pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, neonatal care, and family planning. Data were collected through anamnesis, observation, physical examination, documentation, and literature review. The Rebozo technique was applied twice during the active phase of the first stage of labor, and pain intensity was evaluated using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). The results showed that the first intervention reduced pain intensity from a score of 8 to 5, while the second intervention reduced pain intensity from 4 to 2. The delivery proceeded spontaneously without complications, and the postpartum and neonatal periods progressed physiologically. The mother successfully provided exclusive breastfeeding and chose a three-month injectable contraceptive method. It was concluded that the Rebozo technique can help reduce the intensity of first-stage labor pain. Midwives are encouraged to apply the Rebozo technique as a non-pharmacological intervention within evidence-based midwifery care to improve maternal comfort during labor.
