Guided Imagery Ca mammae Nyeri akut

Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that can attack all breast tissue. Post-mastectomy breast cancer patients usually experience pain. Pain is an unpleasant sensory experience and can cause pain. Non-pharmacological pain management can be applied to relieve pain, one of which is guided imagery techniques. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of guided imagery therapy in reducing the intensity of acute pain in post-op breast cancer patients. The method used is a case study of Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) Nursing Care, which was applied to two patients with acute pain in the Tulip Room of Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. Therapy was given for three consecutive days with 10 minutes each, to breast cancer patients who experienced pain on a scale of 4-6 and breast cancer patients who underwent mastectomy. The results of the case study showed that before the intervention, Ms. E's pain level was 6 and Ms. S's pain level was 5, then after the intervention, Ms. E's pain level decreased to 3 and Mrs. The pain level was 2. The conclusion obtained from both patients was that the application of guided imagery therapy was able to reduce pain levels in post-op mastectomy patients. This therapy has been proven effective as a non-pharmacological intervention that can improve quality of life and can be recommended as part of routine nursing care for breast cancer patients with acute post-op mastectomy pain.
