Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) causes various symptoms including ineffective breathing patterns. Ineffective breathing patterns can result in decreased oxygen in the blood, increased carbon dioxide, and dyspnea. One of the actions that can overcome ineffective breathing patterns is by providing pursed lips breathing relaxation therapy. The purpose of this study was to overcome ineffective breathing patterns in CKD on Hd patients in the Hemodialysis Room of Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. The method used in this scientific work is observation and pursed lips breathing intervention. The sample of this study was one patient (CKD). The study was conducted on February 14, 2025. The results of the study showed that after pursed lips breathing relaxation therapy, ineffective breathing patterns were overcome, indicated by a decrease in respiratory rate and an increase in oxygen saturation. Suggestions related to interventions to the research site to apply pursed lips breathing relaxation therapy to patients experiencing ineffective breathing pattern disorders.
